Have you been watching the Winter Olympics?

I don’t get NBC here in Japan, so my watching of any events is severely limited, sadly. I have to watch it on AFN. I’d rather be in the states and able to see more of it.

In all honesty, I actually wanted to go to the Olympics. Well, part of me did anyways. Then you hear all the media reports of how dangerous it will be, could be and that you are just better off watching from home. FYI..these days no place on God’s great earth is safe.

I am all for being careful & cautious but I am also all for living and not living in fear all the time. Hell, it is too easy to live that way, especially when one is living overseas. Good thing I don’t let fear rule my life but there is always caution.

I was able to catch some of the mens skating last night. I must say it was interesting but lacking. Maybe skating just does not carry the excitement it used to? Maybe the skaters are not as talented as those in the past?

Another favorite event of mine is the Luge! There is excitement in that for me as it can be very unpredictable and it seems to be pretty dangerous so that adds to my excitement, lol. I bet you can guess I enjoy hockey too? lol.

Is it just me or are the commentators just not adding anything to any of the sports? I am finding them rather annoying, lol. Some events are very easy to hit the mute button but for the skating you need the volume for the music.

I have also found, maybe this has been a slow progression over the years or just me but I am finding there is less enthusiasm for wanting the US to bring home medals and it’s more of a PC “let’s be equal” with everything these days? Don’t get me wrong, I think it is awesome for any country to get medals but in the past there seemed to be much more commenting & excitement over the US bringing home medals.

If you have been watching, what are your thoughts on the Winter Olympics?
